Sacramento Christmas Activity Guide

West Sacramento Christmas Activity Guide

It’s the most wonderful time of the year here at The Strand Luxury Apartments in Sacramento! We’re so excited for you to spend the holidays in your home in West Sacramento, just outside Downtown Sacramento. There weren’t many activities to do outside your home these past few holiday seasons, but that’s not the case this year. With things back up and running around town and close by, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and spread the holiday spirit.

For those of you who are new to the area or those of you who have forgotten some of the local events and sites to see, don’t worry about finding things to do! We’ve got you covered. We’ve made up a list with just some of the options for ways to enjoy Christmas while you’re out and about this month. Here is our Sacramento Christmas activity guide to give you some guidance and inspiration for celebrating the holidays this year.

Hit the Ice!

Have you ever been ice skating before? If you haven’t, this season is the perfect time to try it out! Ice skating can be fun for the whole family, a group of friends, or maybe even a magical first date? What better way to build a connection with someone than falling with each other – literally. Whoever you take with you down to the rink, you’re sure to have a good time.

The closest rink to you at The Strand apartment living is the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink, and it’s our favorite! This outdoor rink is in a great location, with lots of people, plenty of parking, and lots of great food nearby! You’re probably going to work up an appetite skating around in the cold.

Don’t forget to bundle up before you head out to give ice skating a shot. If you’re doubting your skills, don’t be afraid to ask the staff for some help. Make sure you call in advance to ensure that the ice is up to par and they are up and running for the day.

We believe!

Whether or not you believe in Santa, The Polar Express in Sacramento is keeping the magic alive this Christmas season! This event takes place at the California State Railroad Museum and mixes a little bit of history with the “first gift of Christmas”.

This magical train ride takes place four times a day and sells out quickly, so get your tickets in advance! On your way back into the station, you’ll get to hear live carolers. They have different cars to choose from, all pulled by vintage locomotives. This is the perfect Sacramento Christmas activity for a family outing.

West Sacramento’s Winter Wonderland

Are you looking for a true winter wonderland right in your town? Head over to City Hall on December 6th, this Friday, for just that! The Chamber of Commerce will put on a magical event for you and your friends and family. The main event of this gathering is the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in front of City Hall.

There will be plenty of refreshments, including coffee, hot cocoa, cookies, and snacks (for the kids). There will also be live local musical performances, tons of kids’ activities, holiday shopping, and pictures with Santa. What better way to experience West Sacramento Christmas activities than with a winter wonderland hostess by your own city!

Union Square

Last on our Sacramento Christmas Activities guide is a little further out than our neighborhood, but still, close enough to enjoy this holiday season. Union Square in San Francisco is a sight to see during the holiday season. Make a full day’s trip out of visiting this location by seeing the holiday cheer and checking some things off of your Christmas Shopping list. If you visit this post, you have to take a picture with the 80ft reusable tree and share it with us on Instagram @thestrandsacramento.

Although the bright green and red bows and Christmas lights can be entertaining for smaller children, they might be a bit overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the crowd. Maybe consider making this an adults-only trip, that way the kid’s Christmas lists can be shopped for as well! Either way, we think it’s worth the short two-hour drive to see the Christmas Cheer!

We hope this Sacramento Christmas activity guide helps you get into the holiday spirit this month. The holiday season can be a bit stressful or overwhelming at times, but we hope you find comfort in knowing that you can come home to your little bit of luxury while living here at The Strand.
